Costa Rica Tica Party Tours, a website that provides all-inclusive vacations with “girlfriends” in Costa Rica has been denounced by the Spanish-language news report, crhoy.com (or Costa Rica Today). Advertised on craigslist, and hosted on an the weebly platform, the website has become the subject of national attention in Costa Rica, focusing on the problem of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
Website explains in no uncertain terms that money paid will include hotel accommodation and the services of “party girls” who also “Spends the Night”. There are numerous photos of girls, and featured prominently is a hotel property in Escazu where guests are expected to enjoy the company of women. Options exist for all flavors of girls, including “semi-pro” and “pro” girls.
A $250 prepayment via Paypal is required with the balance due in cash upon arrival in Costa Rica. The eight night party package is $1,899 and the site explains that most guests have a total budget between $2,500 and $3,000, which includes airfare.
Clearly the marketing of the site is focused on tourists with little knowledge of Costa Rica, and who do not know how to navigate the many massage parlors and pickup bars that dominate the San Jose nightlife.
Indeed, anyone who would stay in far flung suburb of Escazu would be completely dependent on a driver and high taxi rates to get around town. Anyone with any local knowlegde would stay in the upscale Barrio Amon neighborhood of San Jose, and be just a few minutes walking distance from whatever suited their interests.
The news report, published late on Wednesday in crhoy.com is generating national attention and references the recent report by the United States Department of State, which categorizes Costa Rica as a country that fails to to comply with required standards to effectively counter human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
